The car is shrinking . . .

I may be getting a little bit bigger, but the car is definitely shrinking! Adam was put to the test of installing the car seat bases in our vehicles last night. The truck was super easy - my car, not so much. After a phone call to a fellow Jetta owner with a small child (thanks, JJ!) he figured it out. The base is installed behind the passenger seat, which means if we go anywhere as a family he'll be driving so he has more leg room. I guess I should enjoy the fact he has to chauffeur me around!

As the weeks pass we are getting more and more organizing done around the house. We're just amazed at how much stuff a baby needs. Is it all necessary? Probably not, but it will be fun to use! We had our last baby shower on Sunday, hosted by Anna and Erica. It was really fun, and we received so many great baby gifts. We are most proud of the fact we were able to put together the pack-n-play without any problems!

The picture is from Saturday (37 weeks prego). Adam was the officiant at another wedding, so I was able to tag along. I figured I should dress up a little, hence the dress. The only way I was going to wear a dress is if my feet weren't swollen, and they weren't! Love those compression socks!

Let's Dish-by the Rookie

Hello out there...not sure who's going to look at this other than Tricia and I, but since you're here you might as well get what you paid for...

This is my first attempt at blogging, so work with me on this. Tricia and I have both begun to nest-I say this because we did one of the most "grown-up" things we've ever done together this last Saturday. We spent a relaxing Valentine's day at Let's Dish preparing all sorts of meals with the hope that once the little one comes, we'll be able to lower our stress level with some pre-made food dishes. We spent 2 1/2 hours making 8 different meals, and 16 servings, to freeze. (If you would've told me 5 years ago I'd be dressed in an apron, pre-cooking food on a Saturday I never would've believed it!)

Other than that I know that I've begun to concentrate more on the hopes and "what-ifs" about this little person that is going to be showing up soon. I'm looking forward to being greeted with a smile at the sound my voice, and knowing that someday this same person is going to be calling us Mom and Dad...pretty cool. On the flip side, I'm not particularly looking forward to the diaper changes, but after the first hundred or so I'm sure I won't mind!
I could continue on, but since there's no rush just yet-there will be plenty of late night rocking time to try and type the baby to sleep... See ya. PS - Tricia is 35 weeks in the picture . . .

It's All In the Socks

To those of you who expressed concern for my feet:

Yes, my feet are rather large and swollen these days. Adam was so concerned he made me call the nurse line on Thursday in hopes they could do something about it. I'm happy to report that after describing my poor feet to my Nurse Practitioner I was given a prescription for compression socks. And, as you can see from the photo, my feet look much better!

In My Shoes

No, those aren't the feet of an older person, nor are they the feet of an athlete who sprained both ankles. Those are actually my feet. Apparantly I either didn't read close enough in all the pregnancy reading materials, or I just didn't listen to my girlfriends, but I really had no idea that my feet would struggle to fit in my shoes at this point. No idea. My cute size 7 1/2 narrow feet have morphed in to what Adam and I can only describe as sausage feet. Who knew?

Let it Rain

I may have slightly started to freak out last week because while the nursery appears to be in order, we literally had 2 diapers and not a single wipe in our house. What if the baby were to show up tomorrow - what would we do?? I'm sure we would have just stopped at Target on the way home from the hospital and figured it out, like any rational person would. Instead what we did is go out and buy a mattress for the crib. That didn't quite solve my diaper dilema, so on Saturday I bought a small pack of diapers, wipes, baby laundry detergent, and a changing table mattress. I now feel confident that if the baby does come early at least it won't have to go bare butt! Countdown clock - 5 weeks and 5 days.

Yesterday we had our very first baby shower - a "Tailgating for Team Bleck" couples shower hosted by our friends. It was so much fun, and the party totally fit both me, Adam and our soon-to-be baby. We feel very lucky to have such a great support system! We played a few creative games (multiple choice Baby Bleck game, speed diaper changing on a real toddler, and guess which couple made the onesie), filled our bellies with cake, and then enjoyed the Super Bowl at Kirk and Kate's house. Today Adam was proud to wear yellow and black in honor of the Steeler's winning the big game!
