Singing

The boys have really taken to singing lately.  There latest and greatest song is my favorite yet.  They were playing with legos in the living room after church and of all a sudden Nolan started singing "how's it going to work? Teamwork!" I asked him where he learned it and he said "at Jane's house." I love that she teaches them songs we can use at home!

When Daddy's away . . .

Kale doesn't behave the same - and unforunately that means more timeouts than he gets in a week in just a few nights!  On Adam's last trip away Kale woke up one morning at 4:15 am, because he wanted a popsicle.  Really?  At 4:15 am!  I couldn't get him to go back to sleep, so I did something we rarely do, and that was put him in bed with me.  Of course he fell fast asleep almost on top of me - and I laid there until I finally decided to get up at 5.  Sleep is so overrated.

Sleddin'

We spent the weekend in Moose Lake with the McDowell clan.  The highlight for the boys was sledding at the lake!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I woke up early this morning and made heart shaped pancakes for the kids.  They were so exicted!

Monsters

Kale woke up last night at 1:30 am and came running in to our bedroom.  I asked him what was wrong and he said there was a snake in his closet.  Sure enough, the light from the baby monitor that we never use cast a shadow in his closet that looked like a snake on the wall.  Poor kid!  Both boys talk about monsters, but I thought it was just from playing at daycare. Nolan is the only one of them that has watched the entire movie Monsters, Inc. - although I'm sure Kale has seen bits and pieces of it.  I told Kale that tomorrow I would clean out his closet so we can shut the door.  Hopefully that will make him feel better!  Nolan also paid a visit to us at 3 am last night, to annouce to Adam that he wasn't tired anymore.  Adam told him it was 3 am and he needed to go back to sleep, either on the floor in our bedroom or in his bed.  Nolan made the right decision and went back to his room to sleep.  I can't wait until the day the boys sleep until 10 or 11 in the morning!
Tonight at bedtime I was giving Kale goodnight kisses.  He would say a body part, like his head, hand, finger, cheek, etc., and I would give it a kiss.  I had to draw the line when he said "kiss my butt".

Nolan announced at dinner tonight that he was glad he tried the zuccinni, because he likes it!  Shock of all shocks, he is actually starting to eat his vegetables.  Hopefully that will continue!

Swimming

Nolan is in his first independent swim class - and he has surprised us!  We weren't sure how it would go, but he put our minds at ease by  marching off with his instructor and the class and not once looking back at us.  He loves the lessons, and is a prfetty good listener. His favorite part is at the end of class when the instructor throws "treasures" in to different parts of the water and the kids have to look for them.  Last week at class he shouted over to me that he found the rocket ship!

Our favorite Kaleism

We think it's so funny that both of our kids have said the same thing when they want us to hold them - "I want to hold you." Nolan has outgrown it, but Kale pulls it out on a pretty regular basis to anyone who will listen!  Other funny things from Kale:

He's really in to putting his hands on his hips when he gets frustrated, mad or sad about something.  It's all very dramatic!

He says payo for pillow.

He waves in to the toilet and says "buh bye" when he goes #2.  It's amazing how much money we save now that we don't have to buy diapers anymore!

On the way to church on Sunday Call Me Maybe came on the radio.  Someone in the backseat was singing along.  I turned around and it was Kale!  His other current favorite song is Beer Money. Not sure if that's good or bad, but it is a catchy little tune!

Party bus

On the way to daycare this morning I pointed out a school bus to the boys.

M: Hey boys, look at the school bus.
N: Mom, when I'm bigger can I have a party on a school bus?
M: When you're 21 you can have all the parties you want on the school bus.

So funny!

Sneaky sneaky

The boys and I made a last minute decision to hang out in Mankato with Christianne and the girls on Saturday.  The kids played so well together, and baby Hattie was so good we hardly knew she was there!  Highlights of the day, courtesy of Kale included:

  • Kale falling off the bunk bed.  I ran upstairs after hearing a loud boom.  Kale was crying and Lola looked at me and said "he fell off the bed".
  • Kale sneaking off at one point.  Christianne asked me where he was and I didn't know, so we sent Lalayna and Nolan to find him.  They found him alright, sitting under the kitchen table eating a sucker.  After lunch he had tagged along with Lola to the treat closet and I heard him say "mmmm, suckers".  I didn't realize he made a plan to sneak one while we weren't looking!  He really hoped no one would catch him - he hid the wrapper on a small counter and dropped the stick in the kitchen sink!

The mall

Nolan was trying to explain to Adam that Target was connected to the mall.
"Dad, Target was sticking to the mall".
