The big 60

We celebrated Greg's 60th birthday party this weekend. It was the first really nice day of the spring, and the snow just melted this week!  I'm proud of the little color I got and am hoping it will turn in to a tan.  The boys had fun playing with their cousins and running, running, running and running.  The only thing they really stopped for was lunch and the pinata.  Candy is always a hit!

What the heck?

Nolan is such a sponge right now.  He has come home from daycare in the last week and talked about the planets, counting in units (mom, this looks like 4 units of milk in my glass) and adding simple numbers. One of his new favorite sayings is "what the heck?"  I asked him where he learned it and he said Jane.  I love it!

At daycare they discussed fire safety and stranger danger.  Jane gave me the heads up, so we talked to the boys about it at dinner. Both Nolan and Kale talked about how they need to go to the sandbox at daycare if there is a fire.  Nolan said his job is to hold Kale.  I'm glad he listens, and how sweet is that? It had never occured to either me or Adam that we should make an escape plan. We decided that we'll meet by the swingset if there is a fire at our house, and that Nolan's job is the same, to hold Kale.  Shortly after that we touched on stranger danger.  Both of the boys told us they shouldn't go with strangers and that they needed to yell for mom and dad.  We explained to them that they should yell really loud and run as fast as they can.  I'm really glad Jane keeps us accountable for having these types of conversations with the kids!

Yum

We spent the weekend in Deerwood celebrating Emma's first communion. It was cold and there was A LOT of snow - par for the course this winter!  The sun made it seem warmer than it was, so the kids spent time outside with the big boys.  At one point Kale came in from outside.  He was sitting at the kitchen table, and I turned my back for a brief moment.  The next thing I know he's taken the last swallow of warm, gross beer from a beer bottle.  That's not even the worst part.  After he drank it he said "yum!" We are going to be in so much trouble when he gets older!  I did scold him and told him can't do that anymore.

The first communion was really nice.  The only downside was that Kale has to the go to the bathroom at the most inopportune times.  I took him downstairs as fast as I could.  It wasn't fast enough because by the time I got back upstairs the last kid had received his first communion, which means I didn't get to see Emma get hers.  It certainly isn't his fault, but it was the whole reason we were there!

We were excited to share the news of baby  Bleck.  I would say they were pretty surprised when we showed up in the minivan!

Making room for 5

Adam and I did something this weekend we said we would never, never, ever do.  We purchased a minivan.  Why, you ask, would we buy a minivan if we agreed to never buy one. We need to make room for baby Bleck, due on November 17, 2013!

Curly hair

I curled my hair for work today. The boys were so sweet when they saw me, saying they really liked it that way. I hope they remember to do this as they grow up, too!

The sleepover

The boys had so much with fun with Emma and Allie this weekend.  Gina and Eric went to a play, so we watched the girls.  The highlight was the popcorn and movie before bed!

We celebrated our nephew Conner's first bday on Sunday.  A whole year already!  The boys had fun painting birdhouses, eating chips and pickles, playing with Bailey and of course, eating cake and icecream!

Grocery shopping

I asked the boys what we should buy at the grocery store today. Kale said Cocoa Puffs and cookie cereal and Nolan said pancake syrup and candy. I feel like I'm living with two Buddy the Elves!
